Running Accomplishments:

I'm just a beginning runner now.  Had a great PE instructor long ago, in the foggy mist of junior high--that year my mile time went down from over 15 minutes to around 6.  But that was long ago.

Today, while I've been exercising regularly and controlling my eating for the past couple of years (and have lost around half of the fat I want to get rid of), I just started running again about two weeks ago.

My course is about 3.8 km long (courtesy of Google Maps), and I run in it about half an hour.

Short-Term Running Goals:

My present goal is to build up to running a complete half marathon (not necessarily as part of an organized race) by 14 Feb. '14.  If I can do it earlier than that, great.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I don't really have long-term running goals right now.  I want to be fit and healthy for many years, and that's really why I'm running.  Will I get involved in real competition in the future?  Well, maybe, but it's not part of my plan right now.

Personal:

I'm married, have four wonderful kids, live in Israel.  Do you live here, too, or are you planning to visit?  I'd love to meet you!

Good job! That's actually pretty good.

Thanks, Laura. For me, as a beginner, it is pretty good. In due time, of course, I hope to go for longer times at a better pace. But certainly, thanks for the encouragement.

Any time...am a new Runner too...well am trying to get back to it. I used to run track and field at school.

Yeah, me too. I ran in 7th grade, when I had a great PE instructor, and improved my general fitness and my speed tremendously. Went away from it for many many years--now trying to get back to it.

11 hill sprints.  Each one fifteen seconds (approximately) uphill as fast as I could go, walk back down to start.  Took a total of about 11:30.  Not so easy.

Did another 32 minute run, again hitting 2.51 miles.  Just about exactly the same route as two days ago.

Welcome to the blog! Really cool that you are a half a world away from me and we share running as a common interest.

From Jat on Thu, Feb 28, 2013 at 14:31:57 from 212.76.99.114

Thanks for the welcome, Bec. I agree, but it makes sense--collecting stamps is something you might be into or you might not, but being fit and healthy is something that has, or should have, an inherent interest for every human being, don't you think? Running is of course just one way to do it--but it's a very good way.

I see from your blog that you live out in Utah. If you and your husband are ever in the Holy Land, drop us a line--my wife and I would love to meet you.

I just googled "hindu pushups" and what I found was...respect!

Welcome to the blog.

Thanks, Allie. Once you know how to use it, it just gives you so much useful information with ease, doesn't it?

If you're ever in Israel, let me know--my wife and I would love to have you over.
